Elements of Faith Class
Elements of Faith Class
The next Elements of Faith Class will begin on Sunday, September 26. Applications due by Monday, September 20.
Our desire is that we would do everything we can to encourage our children to place their faith in Jesus and participate in the life of the church in a meaningful way. This includes baptism, taking communion, and even joining the church as a member. Therefore, we have put together this class, taught by the Elders, as a prerequisite for your children to be baptized, take communion, or become a member of the church. The purpose of the class is to teach our children the foundations of the Christian faith so that they can take these steps in their faith in an informed way.

This class is for elementary age children (1-5 grade) who have begun to express a desire to grow in their faith. If you believe your child has already trusted Christ as their Savior or is beginning to take their faith more seriously, they are ready for the class! Our hope is that this class will continue to build a firm foundation for their faith or will help them come to a place where they are ready to trust Christ for the first time. Your child also needs to be able to sit through a 45-minute class, interact with the content, and do some very light, age appropriate reading. We plan on offering this class once or twice per year, so if you do not feel your child is ready, there will be future opportunities!
The class will meet on Sunday mornings during our worship service. Children enrolled in the EOF class will meet in a different classroom than their normal GHK classroom. They will go through the GHK check-in process as normal, attend worship in the service with you, and go to their EOF classroom when the children are dismissed prior to the sermon. Parents will pick-up their child at the main gym entrance at the end of the worship service. The Fall 2021 EOF Class will take place every week for eight weeks from Sunday, September 26 to Sunday, November 14.
After the class, if your child has placed their faith in Jesus and desires to be baptized, we would be delighted to baptize your child! We are planning on having a baptism Sunday in early December for children ready to be baptized after the class!
Being a member of the church as a minor will look different than if you are an adult. Our elders are currently working on a membership covenant for minors that we plan on bringing before the members at a future member meeting.
Yes! We believe that our job as the church is to partner with you as the parents in the discipleship of your child. You are not required to attend the class with your child, but there will be homework sheets given in every class so you can reinforce what is taught and have conversations with your child at home to help them better understand.
Each class will be 45 minutes long during the sermon on Sunday mornings. One of our elders will teach each session and the class will include some short lectures, activities, and discussion.
We are charging $8.50/child for the materials.
