Grace Hill Kids – Promotion Sunday

PROMOTION SUNDAY

October 6, 2019 is Promotion Sunday at Grace Hill Kids. If you are unfamiliar with Promotion Sunday, it is a one-time event each year when we graduate kids to their new Grace Hill Kids classes.

WHAT CLASS WILL YOUR CHILD BE ASSIGNED TO AS OF OCTOBER 6, 2019?

2’s Classroom: This class is for children with birthdays between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017.

3/4’s Classroom: This class is for children with birthdays between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2016.

5’s Classroom: This class is for children with birthdays between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014.

LOWER ELEMENTARY: This class is for children who are in 1st or 2nd grade for the 2019-2020 academic school year.

UPPER ELEMENTARY: This class is for children who are in 3rd through 6th grade for the 2019-2020 academic school year.

Additionally, we are excited to announce the addition of our GRACE HILL STUDENTS MINISTRY for students in grades 7-12.

WHY DO WE UTILIZE PROMOTION SUNDAY IN GRACE HILL KIDS?

Promoting children at the same time allows us to more effectively plan for the expected number of children in each class. We know the base number of regularly attending kids; therefore, we can order and print materials accordingly. We can determine where growth is likely going to happen in certain classrooms and therefore plan our volunteers accordingly.

“Promotion Sunday” allows a level of stability in the classroom for both kids and volunteers. Kids “grow” through the Grace Hill Kids program together, allowing them to establish friendships more easily. Additionally, it provides a level of consistency for the children. One Sunday each year, kids see movement within the classes. The rest of the year, they know which regularly-attending kids will be in their class. For the volunteer teachers, they can expect that the kids will all be at about the same learning level, allowing them to spread their focus equally among the children.

Promotion Sunday is a critical component to our Kids program. As a result, it is important that we be consistent when we assign children to classrooms. Please help us do this well by keeping your child in the class to which he/she has been assigned. We are always available to assist you if you have any questions about your child’s classroom placement. We want to maintain a Kids program that works for our kids, parents, and volunteers…thank you for helping us to make this happen!
